School Bus Safety Rules

Tips on teaching bus safety to children

1. Waiting for the Bus

Stand Back: Stay at least five steps away from the curb while waiting.
Wait Calmly: No pushing, shoving, or playing near the road.

2. Getting On and Off the Bus

Wait for the Signal: Only get on the bus when the driver says it’s safe.
Hold the Handrail: Be careful getting on and off to avoid tripping.
Watch Your Step: Always check for slippery spots.

3. Crossing the Road

Cross in Front of the Bus: Always cross where the driver can see you—never behind the bus.
